Milwaukee Cylinders Make Engineering Easy In Heavy Industrial Work

milwaukee cylinders

The Milwaukee cylinders are mechanical actuators that provide force in one direction for the same stroke. It is mainly used in manufacturing machinery, elevators, civil engineering, and construction equipment. These cylinders have developed new technology like Automatic Recirculating cylinders (ARC). It is built to increase the life of the cylinder by 25% and is not available on all but the selective rod and bore combinations. Standard cylinders had a dependency on hose length where the oil from the cylinder could not move to the power unit. Milwaukee mainly designs fluid power items with some special operating features.

Challenges faced earlier

With the old technology, Milwaukee cylinders depended on the hose length, hence the piston being at the dead-end flow path over the cylinder cycle, the oil tends to move from inside to the hose and then back to the cylinder but not to the power unit. Now, this leads to the stagnancy of the oil in the cylinder because it is not flushed out. When the new patent is installed, then the problem is solved. This technology allows the cylinder to earn full speed and force to flush the oil out of the piston.

Types of Milwaukee cylinders

Milwaukee Cylinders with ‘H’, ‘MH’ ‘LH’ series perform on the touch applications. Advanced engineering, quality materials, and skilled artistry help build the rough high-quality hydraulic cylinder.

  • Tie Rod mounts – In this case, the cylinder tie rods are used for mounting the cylinder with an extension. You must support the free end to save sagging or any misalignment. It can be best used on the tie rods if extended on the tension rod. They are not as rigid as flange mounting.
  • Flange mounts – Most rigid and robust method of mounting. The application is best on the thrust load application. Rod end flange mounts suit best in a tension application. It does not need any extra cost if the application is more than the rectangular flange rating that needs additional heavy flange.
  • Side and lug Mounts – They are rigid mounts. They can tolerate some portion of misalignment during the entire stroke. The bolts are in simple tension with no compound stress if the cylinder is used correctly.
  • Solid end Cap mounts – This is one of the strongest and most challenging mounting methods. They are best in tension application. They are best in thrust load application.

Benefits of ARC

Milwaukee Cylinders have evolved with ARC because they have a lot of benefits over the traditional cylinders. This type of technology falls under the ‘H’ series.

  • They remove the stagnant oil.
  • It removes the trapped air, hence, increasing the performance.
  • Cylinders can operate at high temperatures if they create an end-of-stroke circulation of cool oil.
  • Extend the cylinder life.
  • Reduce bad cylinder performance from the stuck air.

Conclusion

Hydraulic cylinders are mainly used for developing some mechanical force in linear motion. They are used in mobile applications such as dump trucks, excavators, graders, Backhoes, dozers etc.
